Harvesting is still done by hand, with sickles.

The rooibos is collected by the worker and tied into bundles.

At the end of the day, each worker`s bundles of rooibos are weighed and loaded onto a trailer. A tractor takes this trailer to the processing plant where the rooibos will be cut very finely, fermented and dried. The batch harvested today, will be cut and fermented tomorrow and through tomorrow evening, and be dried and stored the next day.
